Client: Southern Cross University
Project: Southern Cross University Car Park Stage 1
Duration: Aug 2014 – Feb 2015
Project Value: $2,050,000
Project Details Main Constructions was awarded this project and was again pleased to be working at Southern Cross University within the Gold Coast airport precinct. This project involved the construction of a 261 space car park. Due to the nature of the surrounding environment works included the installation of an underground water treatment tank. The water treatment tank was installed to capture stormwater run-off from the carpark which is then treated to remove contaminants such as oil from the water. The treated water can then be slowly released into the nearby waterway. The capacity of the tank is designed to be able to capture at least 90% of water in the event of a Q100 flood. Installation of the tank ensures oils and other contaminants from cars are not washing into the water way and causing damage to the environment and wildlife. The soil conditions on site also proved to be rather challenging with large amounts of sulphate being present. Soils were treated on site as well as large amounts of unsuitable soils having to be removed from site. Other works included stormwater, drainage, electrical, carpark lighting, fencing, retaining walls, installation of geogrid, footpaths, bollards and landscaping.
We are working hard at South Pine Sports Complex to finalise construction of the new soccer facilities. These facilities which include a High Performance Club House and a Local Club House facility along with 4 new soccer fields will provide a much welcome addition to the complex. We are sure that after the excitement of the World Cup Soccer recently held in Australia that soccer clubs will be receiving an influx of players.
