Client: Edmund Rice Education Australia
Project: Saint Joseph’s Nudgee College New Entry and Road Works
Duration: October 2016 - October 2017
Project Value: $5,000,000
Project Details: The aim of this project is to provide Nudgee College with a new access road to improve the flow of traffic around the school and provide additional car parking. The new road includes an upgrade to the Zillmere rd and Old Sandgate Rd intersection and will direct traffic along the southern perimeter of the site. Integrated into the re-design of the existing car park is a new set down zone for both cars and buses. The design provides connectivity from the set downarea to the new bus parking area east of the school site. The new road way and set down area will improve safety for pedestrians and provide a more direct route for motorists. Challenges have been encountered along the way with asbestos materials contained within bulk earthwork zones. This had to be removed from site causing delays to the original program. In addition to the new road way, carpark and set down area the project also involved a large amount of landscaping works. Landscaping includes multiple soft scape areas including irrigation and hardscape works include the construction of a pedestrian entry plaza. The plaza features paving, concrete feature walls and seating along with new garden beds. A specialist electrical contractor was engaged to complete the electrical reticulation for road lighting, landscape lighting and boom gates.
